Dr. Kruh has been in private practice since 2012, specializing in providing juvenile forensic mental health assessments across a wide array of forensic questions, including competency, criminal responsibility, risk assessments, service planning, and dispositional mitigation. He is a Partner and the Director of Juvenile Competency to Stand Trial Services at the National Youth Screening and Assessment Partners (NYSAP)
Dr. Kruh received Board Certification in Forensic Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) in 2025 and at that time became a diplomate of the American Academy of Forensic Psychology (AAFP). He is one of six board certified forensic psychologists in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts who specialize in conducting juvenile forensic mental health assessments.
For ten years, Dr. Kruh was the Director of Washington State’s Juvenile Forensic Services at Child Study & Treatment Center, where he conducted and supervised pre-adjudication evaluations of juveniles, including competence to stand trial, competence to waive Miranda rights, mental state at the time of the offense, risk for future offending, and intervention planning, as well as competence remediation services. He also administered the Juvenile Forensic Services, developing policies and practices at clinic, agency, and state levels.
During that time, Dr. Kruh was also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at the University of Washington, where he directed the Juvenile Forensic and Child/Adolescent Inpatient Treatment Fellowship. He provided direct clinical supervision to pre-doctoral psychology interns, psychiatry fellows, and post-doctoral psychology fellows.
Dr. Kruh received his PhD from the University of Alabama's Clinical Psychology and Law program, where he also received specialized training in Child Clinical Psychology. He completed a pre-doctoral internship at Western State Hospital in Tacoma, WA, where he provided adult and juvenile forensic mental health services. He received advanced post-graduate training in adult and juvenile forensic mental health through the University of Washington and Washington State DSHS Postdoctoral Fellowship in Forensic Psychology.
Dr. Kruh is a member of the American Psychological Association’s Division 41 (American Psychology-Law Society) and Division 53 (Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology), as well as the International Association of Forensic Mental Health Services (IAFMHS), the Association for the Treatment and Prevention of Sexual Abuse (ATSA), and the Massachusetts Society for a World Free of Sexual Harm by Youth (MASOC). He is licensed to practice psychology in Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut and Washington State, and he is a National Registered Health Service Psychologist.
